Health Psychology Group, LLC specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders. We have treated individuals suffering Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Phobias, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. There are many life/work related situations that produce anxiety either during the adjustment period or soon after.
Individuals who suffer with Anxiety Disorders, will likely experience chronic, excessive, and uncontrollable worry, be on edge, be easily fatigued, have difficulty concentrating, feel irritable, experience muscle tension, and have problems sleeping.
GAD is one of the most common anxiety disorders. Research indicates that at least one out of every 20 individuals will suffer from GAD at some time in their life. Anxiety ranges from mild to severe often leading to work problems, family problems, and social problems. Untreated anxiety can lead to other problems such as fear of meeting people (social phobia), severe panic attacks (panic disorder), and depression. If left untreated, those with anxiety are at greater risk of developing medical problems.
At our center, we utilize a number of proven techniques to address the symptoms associated with anxiety to help individuals gain control over their worries, decrease their anxiety, and improve their quality of life.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
is extremely effective in treating anxiety. It helps clients to correct thinking patterns which
cause and increase worry. It is a time-limited treatment with lasting
results.
-
Problem-Solving Training is
designed to aid clients in learning more effective ways to solve everyday
problems. This training is
often used in conjunction with CBT to help individuals gain a mastery over
their anxiety.
-
Exposure Therapy is designed to aid
clients in confronting feared situations and controlling their reactions rather
than avoid and be controlled by these fears.
-
Relaxation Training
to decrease the physical symptoms of anxiety such as rapid breathing and
sore muscles are also offered as a highly effective piece to anxiety
management which, once learned, aids in the feeling of mastery over fear
and worry.
